Kroma or ?

I have been looking around for a new outdoors/hunting light recently and came accross the Kroma. Looks like it is pretty close to what I need besides;

-Don't need IR
-lumens on high are lower than ideal
-Runtime isnt what I would prefer

Currently I am using a U2 Ultra with a red filter but would be useful to have red and blue built in.

Are there any other lights I should look at?

Main uses would be general outdoors flashlight, red for dawn/dusk hiking(coming in or out of a hunting area), blood tracking and some fishing work.

Thanks.

There are quite a few electronic modders that will bump the drive level for more lumens, but that means less run time. What you describe is a light that has to be larger, something that will handle 4xCR123 or 2x18650, and nobody makes that in a multiple color model AFAIK.

I had both the regular Kroma and the MilSpec Kroma. Although they both have a great UI the beam quality of the colored LEDs is something I don´t want to experience ever again on a user light. If only one additional color to the main beam is ok for you the A2L might be light to take a look at. Although it has a floody 120 lumens beam that might not be what you are looking for.

Streamlight Sidewinder....sportsman model. Highest white output is rated at 50 lm, but that is bright enough to light up the tail of a 747 ...albeit that is pretty much the light's limit.

Yes, stock, the beams of the secondary LEDs are pretty crap, but this is easily fixed with a thin film of diffusing material (I use spray on glass frost on mine, work like a charm). The Mil-Spec has the IR (in addition to Yellow Green, or "Night Vision Green"), while the regular Kroma has two levels of Red/White/Blue. I second trying out an A2L red with the 120 lumen beam.

I am curious. What is it that some of you dislike about the Kroma colored LEDs? I have a civilian model and unless you are VERY close to a wall the beam profile is generally a nice wide flood. There may be some artifacts, but in real world use they are not that objectionable (Subjective opinion of course). I do realize that the MilSpec version might be worse as it has more colors but fewer LEDs of each color to provide smoothness.

BambiK.....The low white output throws a beam surprisingly far. Not sure if it is adequate for your needs but if you are seriously considering a Kroma you might want to try one at a brick and mortar store. You might find that you will not use the high white beam that much. One caveat.....Once the batteries run down past a certain point the high white will not illuminate. You have the colored LEDs and possibly low white. I love the Kroma as a low light performer and the high white beam profile, but due to the short run time on high it does not see that much use beyond navigating around the house at night.

My main issues is primarily with the square white beam...that's mainly why I diffuse mine...like you said, the colored LED beams aren't that bad in real life, they're just much better diffused.

It's only square at short range. I was out using mine (civilian model) last night, and at any distance the beam is just a clean narrow beam that carries surprisingly far consideringt he modest Lumen output.

The coloured LEDs on mine give a nice uniform flood without the need of any diffusers.
