I got a KX2C from another CPF member yesterday, youracrab. It is a black one. It looks identical to the KX2 I got from Surefire when Surfire still sold them at reasonable prices.
The hallway test - the unit throws out an intense white hotspot. The cone of light is very simular to what an MN03 LA puts out. There is enough spill for your peripheral vision. The tint is very white! Which is a lot better than my KX2, that beam is definitely "Cat Urine Green." The spill just looks puny because the hotspot is so bright. It is functional IMHO. I consider myself a Mall Ninja, I do not know if the beam profile is good enough to hunt bad guys indoors.
Outside this sucker is great. I can easily light things up at 33m. It really performs like a MN03 LA in terms of beam profile, spot, spill, and spread over distance. I have not had a chance to get the unit out in real quality darkness yet. Next week I'm going camping and caving. I shall bring my new pocket rocket with me as my primary handheld.
For those of you who have single stage KX1s, just multiply the output by 4 and you get a KX2C.
I really like the the KX series, especially the single stage models.
I got this on an L4 tube with a E1B tailcap. It totally looks sharp.
Before you ask, I can not post pictures.
