So I came up with this, was mighty pleased with my self, and wondered, "who else would dig a kydex battery holder?" Seemed like a good excuse to quit lurking CPF and post something. Hi. I make things, and this is what I was up to tonight.

These are for long term storage in a "get by" bag or range bag since the only lights I have that eats 123's are gun lights. I think a thin bead of silicon aquarium caulk around the edge will seal them up and still let me break them open when needed. I guess they could clip on anything with the paracord configured however works best for that application. For me just a lanyard to pull them out of the bag pocket works. If I wanted to get into them frequently I would use a cord lock on the paracord. That would keep them secure and still let them open up faster than untying a whole cobra stitch. I'm working on AA, AAA and CR2 molds since that's what all of my other lights use. I also have the same kind of deal going for a mag worth of ammo that takes up less space than a loaded mag and much better than rattling around in ammo boxes.

Cool holder ! (And a cute puppy on the PB link too....)

I think an in-line holder would also be cool - it could strap to the belt horizontally for a much smaller carry profile. I carry my multi-tool and Streamlight PT2L in horizontal-carry, and would snap up a 2xCR123 horizontal-carry battery holder in a heartbeat !

Is that made by vacuumforming ? Once again, it looks great. :goodjob:

I made a pair of half batteries out of a dowel rod and glued them side by side onto a piece of wood. Then just heated little kydex squares with a heat gun and closed the press on it. Have to do it twice to get both halves but it works well enough. I think these may evolve into polycarbonate vacu-formed versions before too long just because they will be loads tougher and stiffer than kydex and material is cheaper. Plus, Surefire batteries look much cooler than kydex and I would just like anyone else who might need to get into my emergency kit to know what's what.
