L0D-CE or P1D-CE?

I love my Surefire G2, but I'd also like to have a good Cree based LED light to compliment it. Both of the above mentioned lights have variable outputs, which will be nice because the G2 is a bit much sometimes.

I will be using the light for pretty much general use. EDC, outside, inside, maybe some camping and whatnot. The AAA compatibility of the L0D is very attractive, but I already need 123A cells for my G2.

Given these circumstances, which light would you choose and why? Thanks in advance!

I have both. P1D is a bit too large for EDC in a pants pocket so I use L0D (with a lithium primary) which gives out enough light for any sudden need like looking for keys or even changing a tire. If on the contrary you carry your EDC flashlight holstered you can choose P1D which is surely more powerful.

But as usual the best idea is to get both :) :naughty:

I also have both. The L0D CE is always in my pants pocket. The P1D CE is usually in my jacket pocket and will definitely be with me when backpacking or camping. I consider the L0D CE to be an ideal indoor and short range light, and the P1D CE much more suitable for camping and outdoor use. They complement each other very well, but if I *had* to choose between them, I'd keep the P1D CE.

Simple, the P1D-CE is a better general purpose light. The L0D-CE is better only if you think the P1D-CE is too big for EDC. Once you have a P1D-CE, you really don't need anything else. It'll run for over 10 hours in low, 2.5 in medium, and high is mostly unnecessary. It has an excellent combination of throw and flood. It does it all.
One more thing, the finish on the P1D-CE natural is superb. It's in between silver and gold, and it's type 3, so it doesn't scratch in normal use. It's harder than most knife blades.

I never carried a light EDC, because with my job I dont want things bulging in my pockets or didnt want extra things on my belt. So I would occasionally carry a flashlight like a 2 AA cell or the occasional AAA but they were never that usefull and or not bright/dim to make me EDC them. Same with the p1dc, I often carried it on my belt, and its definatly bright/dim enough for the job,but at times didnt want anything on my belt, and its just a little to much of a chunk for me to like it a pocket.

Enter the L0D-CE, the way people rave about this little lite is well justified, it fits right beside a pen in your shirt pocket, or drop it in a front pant pocket and you dont know its there. And the reason I'm religious about carrying it is because, this little gem is bright enough, and on low its dim enough, to be extremely usefull in all situations. I like all my lights (SF and Fenix's) especially the p1dce and the lodce, but for EDC its definatly the lodce. I've carried this lite every day since I got it, and that wont change till something brighter and as small comes around.

I also have both lights.

Given your circumstances, i would recommend the L0D CE. You already have the G2 for plenty of light outdoors, and L0D CE is brilliant for indoor light, and very good for outdoor light on its brightest setting.

I run my L0D CE on Sanyo Eneloops Ni-MH, and it performs very very good, both regarding output, and also runtime.

If I only could have one, it would be the P1D CE. But I aint got no SF G2 ... no Sure-Fires at all

:awman:

If you are almost always going to have the G2, then to me, the L0D makes more sense to me. The P1D is too large for my keychain. I recently bought another L0P-SE which I previously owned. I almost always have an HDS on my person, but when I have only the L0P-SE, I don't really feel under-lighted.

I thought my L0P-SE was tops, the new L0D-CE blows it out of the water!!

A thin pen is easier to carry unobtrusively than a roll of Lifesavers candy, even if both are the same length. It's thinness that counts not length!

I have shunned nearly all single cell 123 based lights for this reason since the Fenix AAA came out. To me you gain nothing and loose the advantage of a two cell light with modest increase in length.

My Surefire E1e and both Firefly's have sat on the shelf since my first Fenix L0P
