L0D W/Alkaline Vs. L0D W/10440 BeamShots?

don't know how to post in the link, but look for the aaa light showdown thread, it compared and showed beamshots of the LOD on alkaling and 10440, along with the liteflux and I think the r4 buckle light.
The simple answer is that it's roughly 40-50% brighter on all levels. If you double Fenix's output specs on each of the three levels, that's pretty close to accurate. When on high the Q4 is a little brighter than my Novatac 120's during a ceiling bounce test. The LOD on 10440 always blows me away even though I use it all the time.

50%? LOD-CE Q4 is rated at 75 lumens. Mine is somewhere around 200 lumens on a 10440, drawing over 1.2A from the 10440. More like 275% brighter.

Just want to let you know that some people are having problems with intermitten flickering problems when using a 10440.

I've had no problems at all using the 10440 battery in mine. It is almost as bright as my brightest (Surefire 6P with R2 or Q5 drop-in) and certainly blows people away when they see the light coming from this tiny little stick.

You (i.e. anyone who is concerned by this) should look into exactly what battery those problematic units are using. I have read of people having issues when using Ultrafire 10440 batteries, but have not heard of the same issues when using AW's 10440s.
smg, my L0D Q4 flickers in medium and low from time to time, and I'm using AW's 10440s. Don't think I'm the only one. I saw the flickering described in another thread as a "rough idle," and that's as good of a description as any. I don't sweat it because there's no flickering on high, and because no detectable damage to the LED or circuit is being done. Pop in an NiMH or alkaline battery and the light still functions perfectly.
re: the brightness boost on 10440s, I agree with other posters that it's in the range of 150-200 lumens. Very impressive.

This is an option if you don't mind the extra length. A Streamlight Stylus Pro - Fenix L0D head mod. With 2 AAA's @ just under 3v using rechargeables, it's nearly as bright as on a 10440 and it's within specs. The L0D is rated for up to 3.3v. And an added bonus is it's now a clicky. I can't believe how much nicer it is to press, press, click, to the level I want. And think of this, at the default level, you'll get around 3 hrs of runtime, where you'll only get around 1 (if you're lucky) with a 10440. Same output.

true true true, Yes the LOD on 10440 is truly a bright light for its size. its high is easily 2x the birghtness, but I feel it is more closer to 3x with a fresh 10440.

Doug, I agree with the others, the LOD (mine is a Q4) with a 10440 is at least 2 times as bright as with NiMH.

Add me to the list of people with a flickering L0D running AW 10440. Bright little sucker but the flickering is a bit annoying
. I think it is a really great little light. I carry one everywhere I go.:thumbsup:

Whoops! I forgot to mention in my post #11 above, that I have an L0D that flickers on a 10440 but doesn't on that 2 AAA mod. And it shouldn't because it's still within specs. :thumbsup:

10440 is outside the specs. 2xAAA is <3.3v, 10440 is > 3.3v

You must have misinterpreted. I was implying that the 2 AAA's were within specs and it shouldn't flicker on them. As I stated in post #11 that the "L0D is rated for <3.3v", so 2 AAA's are ok. Sorry for the confusion.

No issues with LED-CE & Ultrafire 10440. Wow factor is amazing and usefull, but the head does heat up quickly.
