Folks, I have an L4 with what I think is called the McClicky 2-stage tailcap switch. I'm pondering my next purchase. Thinking about the L1. I like the older style push or twist two-stage switches.

To help me decide, does anyone know if I put the L1 switch on the L4, will it work and will I get 2-stage output from the L4? Any idea the lumens and runtimes?

1 cell versus 2 cell voltage issues?

Thanks!....Jeff.

it should work fine. As far as i know, the L2 and the L1 share the same switch, same with the A2. Although what levels of light you will depend on the Resistance in the switch. I am not sure if there is a resitance differnce between the various incarnations of the L1

Hmmm. I have a nearly unused A2 (for sale cheap in Marketplace), and have not even tried the switch on my L4! Probably should do that. Gotta wonder though if the one cell switch does different things. Thanks.

okay wait, sorry! doofus moment on my part, i somehow read your L4 as L2...:ohgeez:

The L1/L2/A2 tailcaps ONLY work with those lights. They are NOT interchangeable except with eachother.

I think what DaFabricata is saying is that the L1/L2/A2 tailcaps won't FIT on any other lights. They are a different size (larger) than the L4 body will accomodate.

this is news to me, can you post a pic of the difference between the A2 TC and an L1/2 TC?
I think my A2's TC is wearing out again:nana:

I am trying to say that the L1/L2/A2 tailcap ARE all the same.

The L4/E1L/E2L are a completely different design and are compatible with all other E-series lights.

The A2/L1/L2 tailcaps are larger and have a completely different thread design and will NOT screw onto any other bodies. They are compatible between eachother, but ONLY eachother....NO other lights can use these tailcaps.

If you are looking for a 2-stage L4 Keep using the Mce2s switch or send it to Milkyspil for a multi-level driver.
