L6 vs U2 confusion

I have read in a few places that the L6 is brighter than a U2 on high, but according to all the data I can find, the L6 actually puts out less light. Does anyone know why this should be /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think this should be titled "Brightness vs Light Output"?

The confusion may be that Brightness has to do more with the light focus rather than output.

A 65 lumen flashlight with a bigger reflector such as the L6 has a more narrow beam spread (tighter) than the U2. So the U2 may have more light output but is more dispersed.

If you take 2 light sources of the same light output, one with a 5 degree spread and the other with a 50 degree spread, at the hotspot the 5 degree spread would look much brighter. Same output.

That is what me thinks....?

The lumen output looks similar based on the two U2's and three KL6's I have.
The "brightness" or "intensity" of the KL6's beam tends to be slightly greater because it has a deeper reflector.
