LASER CUTTING VIDEOS from DVD DIODE

I just opened a DVR from hitachi and removed the diode. I put it on a laser case running 3.2v @ 300mAh. It cuts 3M electrical black tape very sharp and quick I can cut from 1 inch up to 3 feet of distance with the same results.(but I need to focus the lens)

What could be the estimate power on this laser. it does get warm while using it.

Don't think so, You will need more than 60watts for that. I think I'm in the range of 250mw don't know

POSSIBLY, it could melt solder if it was some how black.

Great find, almost makes me want to pull apart one of my DVR's, naaa too expensive to do that; besides I have many powerful red & greens already.

I'm going to play with some lens, right now the lens I have makes a small dot at 3" but farther than that is just like a flashlight it opens up. I can make the dot burn stuff up to 8 feet wich is nice but I whant a lens that maintain the same dot size like my green laser. Or maybe a better lens to cut more stuff.

Where are you getting that foam? I've tried finding black foam and have had no luck. Preciate the holler back.

The foam I use was the foam that it came inside my green laser case.
