A friend of non-flashaholic fried told me about these lights. They were being used by a bunch of hard-core kayak paddlers on a camping trip. He said a lot of people had them and liked them. But, then again, they're kayakers, not flashaholics.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Kayakers => practical ppl purchasing lites for certain functions

Flasholics = purchasing lites for the an obsession, most often the lite may not be well used or needed

I didn't feel that my last purchase of lites was really necessary, it was more like a 'good to have'. therefore based on your friends account it should be a good lite which can do more than juz be displayed on a flasholic's shelve

Aside from using the CR-2016 Li cells-which are not rechargeable, I like my unit with the two green elements quite a lot. It IS by far the brightest lightstick I've ever used.

BTW-I'm now looking into getting the brand new Lithium-ion CR-2016/2032 cells for use in lights like this one.

I have seen these products in a GiJoes, they are just a endcap with a battery and a T1-3/4 (5mm) LED

I was not impressed - although, I am used to 250-300 cd per LED, not 6-7 cd

My particular elements (2 green & 1 white are almost as bright as a fluorescent tube -when the batteries are fairly fresh.

Mine certainly can (and are) used for area lighting for the first hour of runtime.
Btw-you should pay no more than 12-$13 for each LED element, and $3. for the translucent tube.

-The LazerStik(@$12)-sold by Jade mountain et.al. is still the very best buy in lightsticks IMHO.
