You could be right and I guess I could just be naive. I have a tendancy to believe what I'm told and the inherent good in people....until I have a reason not to.

On a more positive note, I'm happy with my new one and think these are very nice lights. I would love to see more Stainless Steel offerings from Fenix and other manufacturers.

Well I think since Fenix printed a Color Marketing brochure and a manual with at least the cover specific to the SS version, I have a feeling this 'Special Edition' will be with us for some time. If it is successful I think we'll see possibly other SS lights. They may have setup special machines for SS so it might make sense for them to make a few more SS editions. It looks to me like this light might end up as a regular offering.

I'm happy with my sample, will test it more though. I have a couple, but I'm leaving one unopened in case it needs to go up on Marketplace.

I finally got my SS LD01 today and put the split ring on it and a duraloop in it and tried it out... whoa! this thing on low makes my arc clone 5mm AAA light look invisible. It wasn't as shiny as the pictures look but not unshiny either. I cleaned the slight grease off of it and am leaving it like it is as IMO it is perfect for my keychain the finish should hide most of the shiny scratches well. It is almost an inch longer than the arc clone and feels about twice as heavy with a nimh AAA than the clone with an alkaline AAA. I wish low was a little lower but IMO as small as AAA lights are I just am going to carry my UK2AAA led light with two AAA lithiums in it for "spare" ammo. If they could make an unanodized AAA light with just the nice low output this light has for $18 I would buy a few for friends as it stomps all my AAA 5mm LED lights. No jumping around yet.... running a cheap nimh AAA that is half dead waiting for it to hiccup.

I agree with you. It should be noted that the word Fenix gave 4sevens changed over time from "all lights are being tested" to "changed circuits in all lights in his batch". Other dealers are still being told their lights were all tested. Do you honestly believe all circuits were changed for one dealer's batch? I have real issues with the way in which Fenix has handled this one.

Great lights though. So far mine has performed well but other buyers are reporting new problems. One post states the light will not turn off. That is a very different problem from level jumping

That info is on just about every dealer's site as well as Fenix's.

Just got my LD01 and popped in a new Eneloop. VERY impressed!

Compared to the aluminium LD01 (about 3 weeks old), the beam is brighter (tiny bit) and whiter (notably) and smoother (notably). The Cree rings are much less pronounced on the SS. Hmm! Mine seems stable, though I haven't done a test for longer than 5 min or so...

What a gorgeous, amazing and delightful light!

It is about 2.96 inches long and 0.56 inches in diameter at the knurling on the head and 0.55 inches the rest of the body. A AA alkaline (energizer brand) is 0.55 inches in diameter and a rayovac hybrid nimh is 0.56 inches.... I would say this light is exactly the size you asked for.

mine seems pinkish in tint compared to my lux1 R bin lights, and has a big hot spot.... which is nice as it lights up entire cars across the street here :D I am sort of looking for a white plastic cap that will fit over the end of the light for both a diffuser and to help protect the glass from possible scratching in my pocket.

yeah I have a red chapstick lid that works well... need a white one but would be kewl to find a clear one to slide over the end. I am thinking that the end is so small not even a dime can scratch the glass easily but I have another light with a scratched glass lens from being in my pocket and change and keys

Happily, during the times I've logged-on to the USPS website (Track & Confirm) to check the shipping status of an order and observed the somewhat disconcerting message you'd received . . . it virtually always (okay, typically) means that the parcel will be on its merry way either later that same day or the following day. Fenix Store was nice enough to replace it, but my replacement is jumping too (and I didn't even get to change the battery once on the replacement before it went bad). I'm using Energizer Lithiums, btw.

I work in a hospital and need a -dependable-, and easily pocketable light.
I picked up a highly rated DX light, which had a badly machined battery tube, and the first battery I put in it was wedged inside for all eternity. In the trash it went.

Then I tried the Lumapower Avenger, which had problems, even when I got the replacement switch. Another $50 in the trash.

It looks like my LD01 will be headed to a landfill very shortly to join it's younger cousins.

My old Arc AAA and the Fenix E01 work like champs, but I really could use something a little brighter, especially in the case of a power failure. I'd like to stick with a AAA light...

How about those of you who own a Liteflux, are you happy campers?

I have the SS version and love it. Liteflux people generally like their LF2s too.

I was just thinking of the LF2 while reading your post. Another couple of possibilities might be an MJP or having your ARC modded to give 2 output levels.
