Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a leatherman e300 knife for a friend and maybe if I can afford it, the e304x for myself.

Does anyone have either of these knives and can comment on its durability, feel etc? Yes, there are knife forums out there but, the firewall or whatever, blocks these sites because if it's 'violent' nature and I can't see anything.

Thank you for any help. :)

I have yet to handle one but what I have heard is that the Leatherman knives are good, but you particularly like the added featureset that Leatherman has put into them, they don't stand out as being special.

They are not very popular on the knife forums because the established brands have so much to offer and Leatherman's knife offerings are often overlooked. Many choose offerings from Spyderco and Benchmade and Kershaw instead.

Here is a review that may not be blocked. http://www.multitool.org/other-tools/folding-knives/leatherman-e302.html

carrot, thank you :) The website is blocked though lol.

Leatherman has a reputation for making good tools. I assumed that their 420HC steel and the 154CM steel should be almost as good as the brand names...

BTW,I won an auction for a K500x (3.1in, 154CM) for $19 including shipping!

If you do find reviews, please, can you copy and paste them into an email for me?

Thanks :)

i have the K500x. bought as a collection knife rather than for actual use.

what's hot:
. nice heft for its size
. decent ergonomics for my not so large hand
. easy to sharpen blade

what's not:
. blade mechanism is far from smooth

for the price, my earlier budget Buck was much better. i wonder if i should file & smoothen it by dis-assembly... because if my hand was alittle greasey i may cut myself if it slips or flips sideways.:sick2:

i hope the e300/e300x series are different in this respect.
