LED Conversion for my 18volt tool light?

I own a couple 18 volt cordless tool lights and tried to convert them to LED's with the TerraLux TS-18 ToolStar kits. Very bad results, these LED cluster dropins have either melted or quit working altogether. I have written to TerraLux to complain and also to request an alternative LED bulb but so far no solution. Can anyone suggest a LED capable of handling the 18 to over 20 volt DC current for my application? I have searched several manufacturers but have not seen anything that looks like it would work. Thanks.

I can't help, but have the same interest. My Milwaukee batts are 28v LiIon, and a LED drop in would be great - if anyone knows where to get one.

Terralux TS-18 ToolStar was that only product I found and of course it is not designed for 24, 28 or 36 volt applications. I wrote to several of the LED companies and spoke to a representative at TerraLux explaining that this should be a good sized market for LED conversions. The person on the phone did not seem very hopeful that they would put more time and effort into such research. I'm sure it will happen, incandescent bulbs are a waste of time, money and voltage.

I just got a couple Ryobi 18 V worklights (P703).

Very interested in a good LED mod for these lights. :)
