Ebay headlamp

It looks similar to a lamp that Wayne J used to sell but from the picture it looks like it has a different optic. Anyone have this one and if so, what is the optic. Also, I presume that it simply uses a resistor to limit current. Is this correct?

Thanks for the review Craig, great job, as usual...

It does look exactly like the Elektrostar that Wayne was selling at a time. 2 points Craig mentioned that made me think so (apart from the fact that it looks the same),
1) the headlamp is top heavy, altho an addition of a overhead strap might help, and
2) the beam that Craig took is exactly like the one I have, i.e. you can see the 'diamond' slightly misaligned from the centre. This is more so because of the construction of the headlamp itself, cos when you screw in the bezel, the (flat surface of the) optics does not sit in alignment with the flat of bezel, thus its always sorta squashed/slanted to one side. The best I've been able to do is to tilt it to one side while tightening the bezel, and slowly trying to get it centred. Even this the 'diamond' will still remain on the bottom of the hotspot, but provides good spill nonetheless!

Brightness is amazing with a runtime of approx 8-10 hrs (advertised), its a great and bright headlamp, I reckon! Esp for caving methinks!

Dougs, its non regulated and yes, it uses a resistor only.
