led lenser batteries

hey guys,
just bought a few led lenser lights including x21r, never used such powerful lights before, my question is waht are my best options to power x21r concidering output/run time?

the HP mentions rechargeable cells are ok,
so just get any NiMh D-cell You like.
(+ a good charger, as NiMh/NiCad really is depending on the quality of the charger)

NiMH D cells vary from 2,900 mAH to 12,000 mAH.
There are also old style normal and low self discharge types.
