I have a Pelican Xeon M6 as my current carry light. Nice white light when I need to view a vein for venipuncture. Also nice for getting someones attention for opening a door or looking at someone in a dark cell without adequate lighting. I want to upgrade to a LED and thought about the Strion LED for a couple of reasons. Rechargeable although I don't use my light daily, but access to good quality light holsters for carrying on a duty belt. I have to carry a lot of keys so I wear a duty belt. It is important to have a good quality holster for carrying a light, so I need a light that will fit readily available light holsters. The strion seems to provide the adequate light output and have holsters readily available. I have also considered the Fenix TK10 but not sure what holster will fit that.

In my opinion, the requirement of being rechargeable narrows the field significantly. Having used duty lights of both types, I found that the ability to charge the light without having to take it apart was extremely important. You may want a car charger as well. I would go with a light designed from the start to be a rechargeable light.

A good fitting holster, also being important to you, I would look at the Streamlights or Pelicans.

These will not be death-ray bright, but it doesn't sound like your needs dictate that level of brightness.

Assuming you also do not want a very large light, the Streamlight Stinger C4 might be a good choice.

If in-light rechargeability is not a big concern, let us know. That would open up a wide range of choices. And I believe there are enough holster choices out there to accommodate most lights.

The pelican M6 size is as big as I want to go (about 5.25"). Rechargability is not important as my CR123 batteries last for months. So any suggestions re: light and holster will work for me. I just need a good quality holster also because I am bumping it don't need the light to fall out when maneuvering around objects and inmates. thank you

Malkoff M60WF or M60WLF, in a Malkoff MD2 with the high/low switch ring. That's all I've got to say about that.

My .02 FWIW YMMV

Niteize is a nice holster but my needs would be for a enclosed holster where it snaps shut. when I am bending over or doing something for a ill person I don't want to make it uncomplicated for them to grab my light.

The TK-10 should come with a decent flap nylon holster with velcro closer(at least mine did). If you not satisfied with the factory holster, I would look at Bianchi products. I'm fairly sure one of their models of mini-light holsters will accommodate a TK-10 (which is a fine light, BTW).

Seeing as how you've used the Pelican M6 xenon and don't have many if any issues with it, would you consider a Fenix TK20? It's got a neutral/warm LED tint which is warmer and better at rendering colours than the standard cool white LEDs.

It runs off 2xAA cells and has 2 modes, a medium which is plenty bright enough to do most tasks and a high which is about 150 lumens and is plenty bright!

You can see beamshots of the TK20 in action here, at the bottom right of the beamshot, click on "road dry" and "naglinka 1" and "naglinka 2" and then look for Fenix TK20 on the list of flashlights.

Oh and did i forget to mention that my TK20 came with a pretty nice nylon holster with a flap that can be secured with a button AND velcro.

Here's a video on the TK20 and another showing a comparison between the TK11 and the TK20 during a blizzard
