LED Lightbulbs Worth It?

Thanks to the ace pointer from you guys, I'm going to get my QIII from Advancedmart, but I noticed that they also sell LED lightbulbs that screw into any lamp socket. Are these any good?

Even if they're not super bright, I can always use one in my desklamp.

They all tend to be overly expensive considering the parts that go into them and typically feature numerous performance compromises.

Upside is alleged durability, but given the problems that LED tarffic signals seem to be experiencing, I'd be wary, myself.

I heard that GE or Phillips had developed a drop-in ~60W equivalent LED replacement blub. Perhaps they'll make it work satisfactorily and price it reasonably.
