LED motor cycle lights

Audi R8 has that option, but it costs an additional $8,000. The new Toyota Prius has them (low beams, only I think).

Other than that, no, not that I can think of, and no motor cycle headlights.

there's a street legal 7" sealed beam replacement that is LED, but it's pricey. If your motorcycle is a 7" sealed beam, it might work.

Yup, the Truck-Lite 7" round LED headlamp will replace a 7" sealed beam or H4 lamp in a motorcycle. Is it legal (DOT certified)? Yes. Is it any good?

...well...

...erm...

...it's DOT certified!

Would it have as many lumens and have all the pros of a regular light with no cons of light output being LED?

I'm all for switching to new tech, but unwilling to give up lumens, visibility, output, and such.

From what I saw, it was definitely a higher color temperature. Not sure how the CRI was like. Output seemed pretty similar to stock.

I don't think there are any major drawbacks besides price, but then again, there aren't many advantages to it either. It's not significantly better than a decent quality E-code sealed beam replacement with a quality bulb and a wiring harness, but costs an order of magnitude more expensive.

The beams are not robust. They are pretty close to the minimal level required for DOT legality: a central blob of light with a blur to the left and a blur to the right. The light does have the high CCT "blue white" appearance.

I remember seeing those beamshots and actually laughing. Yes, they're dot legal, but I could make a better performing headlamp with parts from KD, just wouldn't have the DOT imprint. But yeah, they'll do the job. At the very least, the spot should provide some good distance lighting

I think the other members have answered your question, but nobody has asked you WHY. So, I will. Why do you want to know if the DOT has approved any motorcycle headlights?

Because I think that depending on how you answer, the discussion could go in a couple of different directions. Does this have anything to do with your electric-pedal hybrid bikes? Or do you also have a motorcycle? If yes, what kind? What are you trying to accomplish? etc. etc.

Might lead nowhere, but still be nice to know where you're coming from, neighbor.

Point of clarification: DOT has not approved any motorcycle headlamps. No car headlamps, either. DOT doesn't approve regulated parts. There's no such thing as a "DOT approved headlamp". American regulations don't work on an approval basis, they work on a self-certification basis; the manufacturer or importer "certifies" (basically that means promises) that the component meets all applicable regulations. The DOT doesn't check before the component goes on sale. If there's suspicion a component on the market doesn't actually conform to the regulations, the DOT might check, and if it finds a non-compliance they can issue fines and force the maker or importer to recall the component.

Why don't you just build one? I saw that someone is building an SST-90 driver that takes up to 30V input. What type of beam are you looking for? SST-90 seems to be a pretty awesome light and puts out a great beam with minimal optics. I'd like to see someone attempt to get a bar or "euro" beam out of one to see what it looks like and what all is involved. It wouldn't be bad to go with multiple SST-50's either.
