LED Question

I don't post here often. I have been using Surefire flashlights for 15 years or so. I have never had a good LED light. What is a good LED for $100 or so?

Lotta people have different opinions on what lights have better build quality.


I find that after Surefire, Fenix consistently has the best build quality for their price range. Followed, by a hair, by at least 5 other brands.

What type of battery do you want to use? How many?

For a 2 AA light, I feel that the Fenix LD20 / LD22 is the best there is out there. Some throw better, some have more flood, but the LD20 / LD22 are right in the sweet spot.

I you want a light with less than 3 lumens, people go for 4sevens Quarks.

I honestly have no real world use for a flashlight that has less than 3 lumens.

..and I hate Quarks ...but to each their own.


Need more throw? and EagleTac is the way to go, unless you have a degree in LED light building, then Dereelight Javelin is the top thrower.


I only really do AA lights, so others will have to comment on CR123 and 18650 lights.

I think for $100.00 or so , all the LED lights would be good.
Thats reaching further than the Budget catigory if you know what i mean.
Go through the reviews and youll find dozens of them.

Klarus XT11 is what many people would say is the best LED light for around $100.

for me, Fenix brand lights seem to offer great performance for the money. check out the new LD40/LD41. 4AA, but great burntimes and outputs!!

If you have a 6P/9P, you can get a P60 drop-in and upgrade your existing lights. Many choices and options like tint and output.
Check reputable dealers like 4sevens, batteryjunction, goinggear, and lighthound and see it you find one you like, then come back here and search for a review.
