It might be fun to have a more robust version of these wind-powered lights built in to a car, motorcycle, truck, bicycle. Perhaps they could change color with changes in speed, feedback for driver behavior. Or, perhaps their color could change according to the outside temperature.

I don't know that you need wind. Why not bi-metallic electrical generation using the exhaust heat of the vehicle's engine and the cooling air rushing past to generate juice for LEDs or for...

Free lumens.

Thank you kindly for the interesting link Marduke. The idea of this engine seems like alchemy to me without having any direct experience with it.

I wonder if anyone here has a Sterling engine?

I wonder if anyone else here has wind-powered, thermal powered or other alternative-powered LEDs that they would care to show?

You can purchase small stirling engine fans that can sit on top of a wood stove and use the stove heat to circulate the warm air. Pretty cool really, but they cost ~$300 or so.:sigh:
