Legend LX conversion to P60/P61

Quickbeam might you consider doing this mod for someone less savvy, even though it looks rather easy I would probably screw something up. Where is the best place to buy a p61 assembly ? I am quite interested in this mod.

I did not know the top screwed off the top like that on the LX now it seems it would be easy to slip in the new reflector/lamp... does the new bulb go where the old bulb was? Or is there something that needs to be inserted there too ? Like if I could just swap bulbs would it work fine? arrrgh wish I knew what I was talking about

Thanks for the great instructions

. I always seemed to have a focus problem with the LX. It was either focused good for distance, but not for close; or it was focused good for in close, but not for distance. The mod only took a few minutes (hardest part was getting the clip out but fortunately I had a set of dental picks from a gun show).

I found that I can tighten the head way past the o-ring and it still works great. I used a P60 lamp and like it much better than the original Brinkmann bulb. This light always stays in the garage and I use it for both looking in cabinets for stuff, as well as checking out what's in the yard.

Thanks for the write-up and pics...

I have to "bump" this up again, as I really like this mod! And, even though it only has a 20 minute run time, the batteries in MY LX last for a long time, because I Mr. Bulk LGI as my primary light, and only use the modified LX when I need a little "instant sunshine"! I have had my current set of batteries in there for over 2 months, and I carry that light with me almost every night.

You only use it for seconds or a minute at a time.

I did this mod and love the results. i agree with BuddTX that the batteries really dolast a long time for the above reasons. One question: the P61 lamp (tip) is very, very clost to the lexan(no UCL,yet!) and may even touch it. Is there an easy fix, maybe a larger o-ring or a spacer? Thanks, Jon

Ohhh, just stick a P91 in there and see what happens! (just kidding, I am working on something with a couple other CPF'ers)

Did SureFire think they would be the only one with regulated incandescents? (just kidding again, no regulation)

I regret I cannot say any more at this time...hee hee.

Are you going to have an "event" (that's like an announcement - Sorry the button said "Push Me".)

Do any of you that have done this mod still have the original guts that you'd like to get rid of?
I'm trying to convert an LX back to original operation.
