Here are some of the different battery compartments for Peak's LEO lights:

The 3XRCR123 tube will also hold 2X18500 (but I didn't have any of these batteries to include in the picture).

The tactical body on the far left is fitted with one extender (at the bottom) to hold a third AA or 14500.

The SS Night Patrol body can also be had in HAIII, and it will hold either 2XRCR123 or a single 18650.

Any of these compartments can be fitted to any Peak LEO head.

Dances- thanks for the pics....the HA body with the 2 AW cells directly to the left- will it hold 2 18650's?

Yes, it's the standard tube for the FR1000. It will also hold four 3v CR123's, but as I understood Curt's explanation, maximum voltage (either 6, 9 or 12v) depends upon the head, emitter and switch selections. Of course, those who can mod (like MWClint) might go up to a gazillion volts and a thousand jigawatts for all I know:

I'm not sure that's the one I'm trying to describe. I have the original First Responder (SSC P4) with the 2xAA body (2xCR123 w/spacer) and the forward clicky switch like the switches you show above.

I also have a 1x18650 body with the stainless momentary switch--the switch that will work with all of the AAA, AA, CR123 keyring bodies. That's the one I'm asking about. it will only hold two CR123s, not four.

I can take a picture of it this evening if need be....

EDIT: It looks like you may have been answering RAGE CAGE's question, not mine. Sorry about that.

Thanks Fellas- forgot about the current limitation on the NP.
Dances- do you know if Robyn and or Curt are going to SHOT show?

I have a 2xCR123/1x18650 compartment with an SS momentary switch for my First Responder. Is that one still available?

I think I saw some last week when I dropped in to see Curt. It has the same battery capacity as this SS Night Patrol, but was machined specifically to hold the standard momentary switch rather than the clicky:

And I really like that momentary switch - have them on nearly all my Peaks.

Thanks....are you familiar with the Ti Carribean- if so question in new thread for you.

Yes, that would be the one. I really like the momentary on the First Responder. I don't trust the forward clicky nearly as much as the momentary, and that body makes it a nice compact light.

I would like to have a momentary body like that built for 2x18650. That would be ideal. The First Responder has so much better dynamic output range when powered at higher voltage.

There may be a current threshold for the momentary switch. Don't know if a 2X18650 P7 would exceed it.

I have a question. Every other Peak momentary I have is coupled with the option of the front end twisty for longer duration use. Since the LEO's don't have the twisty feature, has the restriction to only a momentary operation been an issue for you?

I was talking about 2x18650 P4(x3), but I suppose the current threshold is a possibility.

My First Responder works as a twisty with the 18650/momentary body, just as any other Peak momentary. The body has to be loosened a couple of turns to use momentary. That is, with AW protected 18650s, flat or button-top. It only works in momentary mode with some shorter flat-top, unprotected cells I have. That could easily be remedied with a magnet.

With that said, I typically use my First Responder for "house clearing" duties, paired with a Springfield XD, when there is a "bump" in the night. I find that momentary-only works perfectly for that purpose. The floody nature of the 3 IMS reflectors is perfect for this duty also.

I love to use the 3xAA body on the Night Patrol. I leave it on the kitchen table so we can use it at night when walking the dog.
The optic keeps the spill off the neighbors houses. The AA format is great for all family non-flashoholics and It's got enough bulk
that it can also serve as a defensive tool :twak: With that notch in the tail, the 3xAA grip is excellent..even with gloves.

I'm thinking about adding a few sections and making a 5 or 6xAA setup for the FR1000A. :p
The FR1000A seems to operate fine all the way down to 2xAA at around 2ma. 2-3 lumens for a gazzilion hours.
i've used it as a night light during a recent power outage. I have no problems leaving nimh AA's on while sleeping.

That's good to hear. This is one thing I wish my original FR would do. When it's powered by low voltage (2xAA), it won't operate at a low lumen level.
