I have been using the Trail Tech SMR16 (30w HID) for about two years but bulb and ballast replacements are too often and expensive. Currently I get about 3.5 hours burn time from this 2.5a draw light but I would like to replace this 1850-lumen light with its equal in LED. The spot version gives actually a really good flood fill and amazing depth, now I have been looking around at stuff like Trout's 7 UP but seem to have missed any lumen output figures, can anyone fill me in or point me in the right direction or even recommend a light that can give me what I had or better.. TIA.

Trouties 7-Up with mixed XP-E's and XP-G's sounds like what you are looking for, but maybe he will advise a full XP-E unit.

LED outputs are measured under controlled temperatures in a lab with no lens losses. They have lenses and run warmer in a light. Total losses in the 10-33% range for a well cooled light depending on whether it is a cold winter night ofr a hot summer one and how good the reflector/optics are.

7 XP-G R5's at 1 A would be about 2400 lumens in the lab and 1900-2000 range in Trouties Seven Up. Subbing in a 3 XP-E R3's for throw will drop that to about 1700-1800 lumen range.

I sugggest you contact him directly. He may well have a better idea. If I could spare the cash, I'd have one in a heartbeat.
