Has anyone had one of these apart? Mine, (out of warranty), recently stopped lighting it's blue LEDs. Whenever it's supposed to light blue, I get dark. Now, I know blue LEDs require a higher voltage so I theorized that the internal power supply may have problems. I unplugged it for a bit and when I first plugged it in the blues worked for a few seconds and then pulsated rapidly when called upon and then......no blue!
I'll probably open it up but thought maybe somebody has encountered this before and I could learn from him.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Stump

Instead of a transformer, a capacitor is used to step down the voltage.

Re: wallwasher question

I've opened one up, and attached some leads from my 12V DC supply to run it without plugging into AC. This is in preparation for using it to control my Luxeon arrays. It appears to be driving NPN transistors to control each color; the +12V is common to all the LEDs.

Re: wallwasher question

Sorry, I meant Lightwasher. I'll post once I've been inside & tell what came of it.

I got one of these for a 7 year old, for her birthday, and I liked so much I got one for myself.
I must say, they are a pretty groovy "light toy", although, I do find it too bright to use as a nightlight, for my taste.
I got one here:

for $17.5, plus shipping. It is only the red or purple, since it is a closeout.

Also, for those of you with defective ones, their contact page is here:
CKSauce contacts
You should whip them out an email, and see what their customer service is like. They state: "Contact Us
we won't bite..."

Shankus,
They're right, they don't bite. Of course, they don't answer emails either. I emailed them last week and never received a reply. Looks like we're on our own. What a shame as they have some really neat products!

I emailed them with a question yesterday, and I haven't received a reply yet.

Well, I got a reply email today from CKSauce after about 2 weeks! They're offering to replace it and, since I never got around to opening it, I'm going to take them up on it.

I haven't got a reply from them yet, myself. I thought the idea behind email, was that it was supposed to be faster than mailing a letter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif
