Re: Limited Run: Nickel Plated Aleph Series

Alright folks,

Got the parts from McGizmo on order, waiting on those to ship, and when they do, I'll order the convertors for all the TK lights. Once the parts arrive, I'll polish them as soon as I can, get them to the platers, and ship the shells, then the TKs. Hopefully I can work all of this in before my trip, otherwise I may have to bring a few lights and boxes with me to ship in Hawaii.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Re: Limited Run: Nickel Plated Aleph Series

Got the parts from McGizmo enroute here, and I should be getting those tomorrow. I'll polish them all up on the weekend, and get them down to the platers ASAP. I'll be ordering the convertors for those of you who wanted TK lights tonight or tomorrow.

If all goes well, everything should be close to finished by the end of this coming week. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Limited Run: Nickel Plated Aleph Series

Sorry Tony, I already ordered all the parts, and about half of them are polished - I've still got to strip, blast, and polish the A1 heads, but that's it.

Re: Limited Run: Nickel Plated Aleph Series

Well,

You guys are in for a treat. Enrique sent me one of his first sample plated units to examine and I have to say the plating is very nice indeed. This set, I think he's using a similar sequence of wet sanding and rouge that I used to get a mirror finish on my own project, the SmoothOperator. If that's so, it's gonna be beautiful. The EN is heads and shoulders above bare aluminum in aesthetics and durability and I think it is the most elegant finish available. E's light is the 1x123 with A1 head. My SmoothOperator is below it.

Re: Limited Run: Nickel Plated Aleph Series

Here's another shot that better shows off the warm tones you get from EN. Bare aluminum looks nice right after you polish it but the softness results in extremely easy scratching and the polish degrades rapidly with use. EN is hard and has such an organic look to it in contrast to the coldness of bare Al.
