Hi folks, time to pick your brains!....

I have built several lights that use Carclo 10417 square optics with xpe's and really like the beam, however for my next project I would like to use round optics.

Can anyone provide any real-life beamshots or advise on the Ledil Lisa2?

How do they compare with the square Carclo optics?

Your help is very much appreciated :)

I will say they are better than some of Ledil's real spot optics, more of a Diffused spot.
They are mostly a smooth tight cone of light without a hot spot.
Also there isn't a Die image like Ledil's MC-E or XR-E Real Spots
I haven't built any into a light yet just tested
Though I plan on putting 7 in a KL2

I can't compare with Carlco as I haven't used them yet

We use the Lisa 1 and Lisa 2 Wide and Real Spot in the Eiger line of AAA battery flashlights with a
Cree XPG-R5 LED. All of them give very nice outputs without really noticeable artifacts with just a
hint of color banding. But we do not make lights for white wall hunters. Our testing has indicated
a ratio of foot candle input to output of 1 to 4.2 for wide, 1 to 9.3 for medium Lisa 1, and 1 to 10.6 for
the RS optic. Using a 1.6 volt Lithium AAA battery driven at max, (power level #8 in the Eiger), the
otf is 64 Lumens at 27 bare bulb fc. With a 10440 Lithium-Ion battery that jumps to 225 Lumens otf at
88 bare bulb fc. We think the Lisa optics are great for such a little package. An XPE LED would give
slightly higher fc input to output ratio readings.

With the Ledil optics used in the El Capitan, the ratio is 1 to 24.3 and in the Logan it is 1 to 29.6. Bigger is
still better as far as throw is concerned.

Thank you both for your feedback, I think that these optics might be worth a try!

What I wanted to try and avoid was buying yet more optics that were unsuitable, as the spares bin is rather full of unused optics that were purchased on the strength of manufacturers data, only to find that the real life results left alot to be desired!
