I was wondering if you could run energizer lithium batteries in any led light?

The big benefit of lithium technology is that it holds up very well in the highest-drain devices. This means you're wasting the extra money for the Energizers if you're just putting them in low- or medium- drain devices, where they perform the same as alkalines.

If you have a high-output serious LED light, then yes, Energizer Lithiums are actually the best choice for a primary cell. But if you're just using a keychain/store-shelf/~5 lumen 5mm light, the lithiums provide no benefit.

Some multiple battery lights (4 or 8 cell) can be damaged by the higher initial voltage of lithium cells. Most lights are just fine with them though.

I'm unsure of this, a co-worker has tried both in a 2-cell low-drain 24/7 item that drains alkalines in a month, he's just tried the Energizer lithiums and has just gotten over 3 months of usage. So he's impressed.

...and here too:

Lithium batteries are lighter and give longer burn times at low temperature than traditional Alkaline batteries.
Due to recent advances in the performance characteristics of Lithium batteries (especially their higher output during discharge), they can cause the lamp to overheat and possibly damage the LEDs.
I had a fright with my Petzl Tikka Plus which was in the pocket of my down jacket at something over 4000m. It must have quietly turned itself on with the static available in the dry atmosphere. My hands were cold so I put them in my pockets. Youch! My Tikka was too hot to hold. Sure enough, it had Energizer cells. I must pay heed to these warnings!!

I have them in car lights in the Admiral's car and mine. They're mini-mags with nitecores, nothing special, but they may not even be looked at for years. We sure would like for them to work if we need them and the lithiums have long shelf life and great tolerance for poor storage conditions.

The Admiral also carries a Solitaire with LED drop in and it has a lithium and I have the same thing in my camera box.

Must work first time every time under the worst possible environmental and storage conditions, I use the lithiums. The other 20 odd lights and lanterns generally have alkalines or Eneloops if they even have batteries in them. And they all get checked out sorta monthly.

Lithiums and alkalines and NiMH all have their places.

JMNSHO, &, of course, YMMV
