lithium battery degredation info

Interesting article. I find their reference to the "loss of lithium" a bit misleading, although I suppose correct. There is no lithium metal in lithium ion cells, or at least there shouldn't be. Lithium only exists in the chemical compounds the cell is composed of. If you do have metallic lithium in a Li-Ion cell, as can be the result from improper handling, you've got a problem!:poof:

I think "loss" means that it is no longer part of the chemical reactions, not that it disappeared, although their wording is indeed a bit funky.
