Lithium battery smell

I notice a chemical-y smell whenever i open my one and only 2xcr123 flashlight.

Should i be worried about breathing in the vapors? Does anyone know what it is?

I have read posts from other forum users saying that it's common for litium batteries to do this, so i don't think there's anything wrong with the batteries.

However, I am concerned enough to consider shelving the light.

All of my lights have that smell also, even in my pelican battery container with around 15 cr123a lithium batteries in it. I would'nt worry about it, don't put the light on the shelve carry it, that's what I would do.
