Candle Power Forums

Yea baby !

I have two Ultra G's. One is quite a bit brighter with the Lithium, the other about the same. No smoke.

I've run my infinity ultra unbeleivably on a CR2 (3v). Still works to this day.

How did you do that, with a spacer or something?
any runtime or brightness differences.

They are designed to work with Lithium AA's

The instructions on the retail packaged one I purchased says: "Lithium AA battery provides brightest output, and will not disminish bulb life."

On my Infinity Ultra, I measured 15,000mcd with an alkaline AA, and 16,000mcd with a lithium AA.
So the lithium *is* brighter, but not tremendously so.

Let me check my Ultra-G and see what happens...BRB...
17,100mcd on an alkaline, 21,200mcd on a lithium.
So the difference is a bit more significant, but not tremendously so.

The same two cells were used in both of these tests.

I wish but no, wasn't as simple as a spacer. Needs to be bored out. I don't really remember if it was brighter or not but I don't think it was. Sorry, I can't say how long the runtimes were either as I only ran it like that for a week, then turned it into this. The stock module is still working fine in a different mod.

My Infinity Ultra is still running on the same Lithium AA I put in when I bought it last spring. Many hours of use with no problems. My kids use it to read in the car on trips. The other nice thing about Lithiums is the lighter weight if you wear it around your neck.

I found that using a lithium doesn't make much of a difference in terms of brightness. Without doing a side-by-side comparison, I doubt I can visually see the difference. However, in my opinion, the lighter weight and cold resistance are reason enough to use lithiums in the Infinity Ultra.
