LONG throw

I hate to say it but, my original thought was correct.

This light is the most powerful reflector light I've ever held in my hands, no doubt.. but, it's the same strength as the 55w HID 9" reflector light that broke on me.

At the end of the day, you just can't compare 7,000,000 KCD to 600,000 KCD and, I know that... THIS IS A COOL LIGHT!!!!!!!!

With all the buildup, I'm sort of disappointed. I'm the dumbass that thought that the 55w hid was inferior to a flashlight so, I had that coming to me, I suppose..... It's not a fair comparison.... so now, I know that I just have to un-*** the cash and get what I've wanted all along.... 12,000,000 KCD maxabeam.... if not, I'll settle for 7,000,000...

Sorry to hear, hopefully make a useful back up light for you still or you would easily sell it on the market place . 12,000,000kcd or even 7,000,000 WOW, it would never come close, that is serious stuff. The deft X would look pretty much weak at 1,000,000 kcd as well.

Good luck, sure you will find what you want/need:)

Hey, it's still the most powerful reflector flashlight probably in the world right now.

I'm not getting rid of it!!!! It will have many uses out here.... and, it was like I said, I needed to get one on principal. There's nothing that will come to this throw for the kind of money this light cost. So, in so many respects, I'm more than happy with it.

Great stuff:thumbsup:,glad to here as it would make a great back up or easy go to light.:)

Good luck with your searching, look forward to your purchase/s and pics too:D :twothumbs

You wont regret it...........if you do you will be the 1st  seriously though its astonishing, and if you go the deft x route ,you have a back up then as well..........:twothumbs

Yesterday was a bad day.... one of the, "kick the dog" days... but, I never kick my dogs... lol

I love this light. It's about exactly what I expected and, to get it for less than 300 bucks is unbelieveable! (sp?) but, regardless, I'd recommend this light to anyone I know.

I'm going to buy more vinh lights... I already want an, X60vn when he starts making them.... ( and, I'll buy the maxabeam when I get a good opportunity ) :)

No worries... I can't believe I have a, "flashlight" that does what this one does....... It competed against a 9" HID 55W and won..... That should say a lot for our friend, Vinh.

LOL

Its a bit like racing.

The saying is: Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go?

:D

For example, when its ready, THIS will kick the maxabeam's ***.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!! Yes, Sir... that will pretty much do it!!!!

I was having a bad day yesterday.... shouldn't have posted... This is a great light. I love it.

Honestly, the coolest thing is that the beam is much wider than a, "maxabeam" for example.... so, it does have a purpose.... the long reflector manages it will but, the large surface of the emitter only allows so much focus.... this is really a great tradeoff for... well almost everybody... it throws a crap ton of light on a small target for a long way.... and unless you're willing to get a 42x scope then, it's perfect. heheheh

I was just sort of in a bad mood yesterday and, my expectations were overblown. Looking back now, I can't say enough good things.

How can you compare a 9" reflector with a 55W HID bulb to this light??? Well, you can't. But, THIS light does compare and, it throws a larger beam at the ranges... so, if you want to shoot something at 500yds, this works much better than a, "maxabeam" for example.... the pattern is much larger... I guess it's all about beam profile etc. etc..... no, this light has a big future with me!!!

What stuns me is that I amost got there for less than 300 bucks.

What's the MegaRay cd rating ... ?

IIRC, 11 million to 22 million cd in their tech specs, depending on model...as these are short arc lamps, not HID, LED, etc...more like BVH's toys.

A used version of the little one is ~ $5k IIRC.

:D

I was away for awhile oh my god the Nightsword light STILL isn't finished??? Did he ever announce a ballpark price tag on it? Whoever buys that has some deep pockets. That's great that u scooped up a Maxabeam! I was researching that a long time ago but lost the notes that i had jotted down about the versions...since you are up to date on it can i ask you which battery was the best one again, and what other options were the best (if you wanted the best version possible)? Thanks. I believe it was a 401 lithium battery or something like that

I believe the 1307 is the right battery. I think you don't need the special charger for it but, it's more expensive but, it's only 2.5lbs... the other 1207 battery is over 5lbs and requires a charger.. ( which is included with my light ) I believe there's even a battery that outperforms the 1307 for runtime but, I don't know what it's weight is etc... I'm going to have to be patient and find a used 1207 or something.... I'm not going to buy retail so, I may build a battery box etc... or just wait for a 1207 box to become available... with the box, you can put together cells etc. to make a good battery. I think I did ok... paid well under 1k for a Gen 3 light but... just need a battery.

but, I'm doing a happy dance right now..... it's almost here.....

Congrats jwoolf:twothumbs vid of the happy dance or not true:p

Hmmm, a ven-ism?
I recall that L. Ron Hubbard wrote, "if it is not written, it is not real."
I guess you can't write a dance, so the ven-ism, "if it isn't video-ed, it isn't real."

Very true! :)

hahaha

I have to admit.. I must have some sort of light fettish... but, from now on.. I promise to be better.... I mean really. I promise.... it's a maxabeam, right..???

LOL

Well, the only thing now is that since I love to shoot dogs ( coyotes that kill my sheep and goats ).... how cool would it be to put the IR filter on and get a AR upper just set up with gen 2 night vision?... when I say AR I mean AR10.. 7.62mm.... Ok... well.. crap... I hate lights...

PS: Ven.. if you're ever in my neck of the woods, we'll have a good time... drinks on the deck.... we'll grill something.. probably something that used to live in the pasture. LOL LOTS of places for lots of lights....all I see outside are stars... no light pollution.... I feel very lucky.. except for the fact that I have to drive 80mi round trip to work.... meh.....doesn't matter.. still wouldn't trade it.
