I just got a LongBow Mini and I need suggestions on a way to modify it to get around 30 to 40 lumens regulated for about 12+ hours. I don't think it is an impossible task as many new CR123 single cell lights can produce that out put kind of output for 8+ hours. I already have the ecan to house electronics but I need advice on the best way to mod this light. Right now it just has an McR18 reflector on the stock assembly.

Thanks for your help.

To do that I think you are going to have to use SSC or XP-G LED along with a 150-180 mAh board in it.

To get that output, you'd probably need that current, but I doubt you'll have quite the 12+ hour runtime, assuming 1.5Ah capacity on a lithium primary. To get the runtime, you'd likely need to drop under 100mA, which would put you below your desired output.

My bad, I got the mini and micra confused there. :ohgeez:

Correct me if my math is wrong:

1500mAh x 2 cells x 3V = 9000mWh
9000mWh x 80% efficiency =7200mWh
7200mWh/12h = 600mW
600mW/3.6V = 166.667mA

I think your math is good to go TC. I looked at the Shoppe and did not see a driver that would do what you want.

It would be simple on the Micra by using a GDuP and using it on the medium setting with one cell for 6 hours and then put in the second cell. You could still get there by using the GDuP and a battery spacer getting about 6 hours on one battery and then putting the second in along with the spacer. ;)

You should be able to make a SOB that does that. You just need to put the right resistors on it.

Ideally I would like something that would work with both a 17670 and two 123's. I could not decode the info at the Sandwich Shoppe to determine what I could use.

Ended up using the LE from a Thrunite 3 mode CREE XPG drop in. 1%, 40% and 100%. Operates from 2.7 to 9 volts. It is direct drive for the higher modes when under 3.5 volts but I like the fact that I can run 2 primary or rechargeable 123 or a 17670. Its supposed to be 3, 120 and 300 lumens. The low mode really appears to be around 25 lumens. I'm guessing I should get some decent run times on low and medium.
