tint? pretty white slight, very slight hint of purple no where near KL1 purple. My LSH-S shows slight greed head to head my micra seems whiter.

turbo head? I'm guessing the turbo head is just a larger housing for a larger optic to give more throw. The LED and the constant current regulator are combined in the led capsule which is sepearate of the head.

My friend and fellow member Owen brought his Micra over a few nights past.Beautiful light indeed and very white beam. Not too sure about the optic yet but it appears a lot like a Fraen LP however has a little bigger hotspot.Almost no side spill up close and a good size wall of light at about 60 feet.
We tried an NX-05 and it really did not seat very well in the bezel.I am not sure if a little sanding on the optic would let it drop in better but I think it would if turned down a small bit.
I do like the light and compared to my LitFuse modded LS it did very well. The mod(Q3J-667MAH-NX-O5)had more throw but looked a little creamy or yellow next to the LongBow beam.
Compared to mine and Owens Arc LSLPs it looked almost identical in tint with all being very white.
I liked the light but do think a reflector would be great if we can find one that fits.Imagine a Pelican reflector in this light...that would be great if it would fit.
It had good throw but the ARCs had more spill.I personally like the pattern of the ARC LS with NX-05 but for those who like the Fraen you will love the LongBow.
RichPalm you asked about it compared to the Pelican...My pelican is very, very white and the throw is incredible. The LongBow can not compete with the Pelican as far as output and throw. It did however have a good showing of color vs the Pelican and even Owens L4.It was close but the Pelican and L4 still beat it in the whiteness of tint. For a 1 cell Luxeon it is however one of the best I have seen..

Only one thing really bother me is LongBow spec's. It said "Constant-current Regulation**" So I am looking for reference by ** and no where to be found. Is it fully regulation or semi regulation?

indenial, I think you might be correct about booster head with 5 watt led. I just happen browsing website and found one claims 5 watt. This website is from japan.(assume)
Here is link if you re interesting..

Thanks Mikhail. That is an interesting site and does seem to verify it's a five watter.

Robo, nope, the optic is not a Fraen LP. I'm not going to say it is in fact a Carclo (because I'm not 100% sure) but it is identical in looks and performance to Carclo's 6deg. Look here & here.

The NX-05 or Fraen LP won't work properly because the head was designed to use the "Carclo 6deg" optic. The 6deg optic needs to be spaced out from the emitter a bit to achieve it's proper focus unlike most optics were used too. The S017XA reflector looks like it will work with just a tiny bit of modifying to the reflector. I will try it tonight and post pics.

He didn't say it was a Fraen, but that people who liked the Fraen would like the Longbow.
And yes the Fraen LP drops in and works perfectly in the Longbow. That's what is in mine right now.

hi,
i knew that the micra is 3v and the mini is 6v, is it posible to use a pila in the mini and a rechargeable cr123a in the micra. what is the max and min input for both of the lights.

oops just re-read it and I guess I misunderstood. Not like I accused him of anything bad. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

IIRC the LP wouldn't drop into my Micra. Did you have to shave the tab any? Was it a pain to get it centered? Does it throw as far as the original optic? In your opinion, which is better?

Thx

Scuba, Yes I noticed too and did send e-mail to LongBow support some questions. Hopefully they response with answers. 5 watt led booster head for 35 buck... thats pretty low price.

Just to clear it up...the booster head is not a 5 watt unit. It just increases the throw of the light. 5 watt head was just signed off on recently, but not out yet.

Hope that helps,

Oh me, here we go again. My Micra is in the mail and already I'm thinking of booster heads, ECO tubes, and 5 watt modules. And I thought my SF mix-and-match money-spending days were over. Oh well, what's a chronic flashaholic to do ....

Flavio, Thank for clear up about booster head. I am thinking order one Mirca myself someday. Thank again

My LP drops right in, and basically centers itself when I screw down the bezel most of the time, as long as I make sure it's sitting flat before putting the bezel on. Helps to point it upward, and put the o-ring and lens on top of the optic, or "dump" it into place sideways. Otherwise the optic will fall out.
Very convenient compared to some of the lights I've tried it in.
The beams look similar size-wise up close on a wall, except that the Carclo(?) looks more like the center of an NX05 beam, with a round spot, surrounded by a star. The LP looks a little different than it does in my KL1, I guess because of the spacing, with a perhaps slightly larger spot, surrounded by a square of light. My perception is that the LP lets more light through. With the LP, it illuminates a larger area just as brightly, so I prefer it over the factory optic (I had to switch optics back and forth, and run outside a couple of time in the midst of typing this, to keep things straight).
I really like this light, but would much prefer something with some spill like an NX05.

A taller optic like the NXO5 will work you just cant screw the lens holder all the way down. I suspect it would be water resistant but the integrity of the waterproofness might be lost.

The little "tab" on the LP is thicker than the stock optic. I trimmed the tab on mine to help the fraen lp center a bit better.

#2 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif(maybe now someone gives me an answer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif)
hi,
(i knew that the micra is 3v and the mini is 6v)
is it posible to use a pila (3.7 v) in the mini and a rechargeable cr123a (4.2 v) in the micra. what is the max and min input for both of the lights.

Most likely the LED will be in direct drive if you use a 4,2V battery in the Micra, unless Longbow uses Luxeons with very high Vf. Unfortunately, it is not possible to measure the forward voltage, because the LED contacts are covered by epoxy.
The mini is not regulated and therefore should be dimmer if used with a pila.
