My girlfriend is a Nurse here in Perth, Western Australia and I am looking to get her a nice torch for her to use in her job. I know she does use or have a torch at the moment but I seriously think now its time for an update :D

Basically this is what I'm looking for:

1. Preferably the use of 1x AA battery
2. Somehting with a nice low low beam, med and high
3. Lumens is not a big deal say 130 prob silghtly higher but not too high.
4. Something she can put in her pocket, say with a clip
5. Well built and sturdy

I'd recommend an itp A3. It is a budget light (20 bucks), well built, uses a twisty so it doesn't accidently come on in her purse.

It is very light weight and most use it as a keychain light. It produces 2,18,80 lumens. Being twisty, the modes are easy to use with no odd modes (tactical strobe, etc).

It uses a AAA battery. I'd get a L92 ultimate lithium.

An itp A2 uses an AA, but is bigger without much other advantage. (except more runtime).

You might consider an itp A1 also. You will need to buy her a box of CR123 batteries online (cuz they are expensive otherwise!). This light produces 3,30,200 lumens! It is a lot brighter because of the higher voltage battery.

The A1 is short and fatter, but still very small (2.3 inches long, 0.8 inch diameter).

There are plenty of other lights in this category, but they are significantly more expensive for features that she doesn't need or want, in my opinion

I also think the A2 offers a slightly lower low Lumens, but I could be wrong.

Ok I am now tossing up between the A1 and the A2, the A1 looks smaller and is quite cute, the A2 slightly longer and not bad either.

Re the Cr123 batts, not to worry as I have 4 boxes full :twothumbs and would rather use them up than to let them sit there and watch em go to waste. Like i said I have a stack of them.

Ignoring my flip remark earlier, if your gf works in a hospital or doctor's surgery shouldn't the employer supply something suitable for the job?

btw, I have a ITP A1 which is excellent on low.

Your gf may use the torch to check peoples eyes. Cool white LEDs are bad for that application.
You may want to check out 4sevens limited production pre-sale of warm white LED torches. Either the 2AAA Preon 2 or the 1AA Quark mini AA.
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=223099

There are other makers of neutral white torches such as the Zebralight SC50w or Nitecore EZAAw

When you say a cool white are you referring to a pure white light, and yes I think she does use a torch to check their eyes, pupils etc.

Why is a cool white light not suitable for this type of application ?

When you say something more warmer (i,e LED warmer) you mean something slightly towards the yellowish side ?

I can get the Nitecore EZAA for about $59 Aussie Dollars ex postage cost, unless I can do better somewhere else eg Ebay.com instead of Ebay.com.au

How about a Preon or Preon 2?

A little more expensive than the ITP but you also get a 10 yr warranty, a different form factor and the latest R5 emitter.

The Preon use a AAA battery and the Preon 2 uses 2 AAA.
You can pre-order the limited run Warm white in the Preon 2.
Don't forget the cpf8 discount code if your going to purchase at 4sevens.com
