Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a replacment or subsitution for a HPR-59 Phillips bulb its a flanged PR style 6volt bulb I guess like a Lantern bulb and puts out about 50 lumens. I want to run a 6volt rechargeable battery pack for it.
The bulb is in a Northern Mining cap lamp. I only have the lamp assy and modified the wiring to attach to a rechargeable battery pack so i can use it as a hand lantern

thx

The HPR59 is 6V, 4W, 54 lumens and 300 hours life. For long lifespan, nothing comes near it.
The common KPR112 is 6V, 4.5W, 75 lumens but only 20 hours life. Much brighter and more efficient, but lives a short and merry life.
Hmm - what else...
How about the 5-cell Mag Xenon globe LMSA501, which is 6.3V, 0.77A and gives, by my calculations, about 98 lumens. Not sure of bulb life.

If your reflector/socket can stand a little heat, you could go for a 10W 6V bulb of the Pelican 3854L / Philips HPR71 / Reflectalite GH24 variety. Any of these will give a massive lumens boost, but might melt things.

Thx lctorana, i'll try the Maglite 5-cell bulb first and see how it looks. Looks like the HPR59 was a pretty well made bulb with a 300hr lifespan
