Looking for a Small EDC Light

I have asked for a few medium sized lights for Christmas but I am looking to buy myself a smaller EDC light.

I am looking for something for general use but would like to be able to use it as a defense tool if I had no other option.

With that in mind I prefer Single Click or Hard Press that goes to brightest settings, if it can then change to a low setting that would be ideal.

I am looking at single 123 sized options like the E1B Surefire, or the Lens Light Mini.

Any others that are going to be a good idea? Looking to spend < 300 but can push to 400 if I find something cool. Oh... and cool is good.

A flashlight is not a good defensive tool unless you are using it in combination with a real weapon. You may find that this thread gets closed (if people start claiming they are good defensive tools) because the CPF community in general does not view flashlights as good defensive tools. Hopefully you are in a state that allows concealed carry because I'd recommend you get a carry permit.....get trained, and then carry.

As for a practical edc light, stick with single cell lights. My larger lights are great, but eventually get left at home because of their size. The surefire is a great option. Another option is the Quark 123 Tactical or Regular (runs on a single primary CR123 cell or a rechargeable Li-ion RCR123 cell producing over 200 lumens with either battery.) Or, my favorite the Quark AA (runs on alkaline, lithium, NiMH rechargeable, but is best using a 14500 Li-ion rechargeable which it was designed for.) The Quark AA is only decently bright unless you use a 14500 which produces over 200 lumens on a single AA sized 14500 Li-ion. Runtimes are great using the 14500 with the R5 LED - Max (48 min), High (150 min), Med (11 hrs), Low (50 hrs), and I did not test the moonlight mode. For edc, you should also get the "deep carry" pocket clip for this light. There are two UI's to choose from. The tactical UI has two output settings - head tight & head loose. You get to program each setting though which is nice. The other UI is called the regular UI. You cycle through each setting by pressing the button over & over. Head tight = max then strobe. Head loose = moonlight, low, medium, high, sos, beacon, then it repeats. Output settings range from 0.2 lumens to 205 lumens.

I prefer the regular UI so that all of the output options are always available without having to reprogram the light. My wife, who prefers simplicity, likes the tactical UI the best. She only uses high & low. I have her light programmed head tight = max (205 lumens), and head loose = medium (22 lumens).
