Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a new hobby soldering station for RC and flashlight stuff, soldering wires, connectors, etc. along with a source for tips.

I was looking at some of the Hakko 936 clones, specifically the one at hobbyking US for only about $25 shipped, but they're out of stock and I don't know when they'll be back in. Too bad it looked like a real deal.

Anyway, that's the sort of station I was looking for, around 50w+, temperature controlled, and ESD protected. My budget isn't all that high, probably not enough for an actual Hakko FX-888 or the like, but give me your suggestions

!

Thanks.

After a bit of experience in this: Don't mess about; save up what you need and get a Hakko FX-888.
It's made soldering so much easier, and my work is better now too.
Absolutely worthwhile purchase

I brought this one on the recommendation from member Datiled.
Right the Hakko 936 clone, so has it been working nicely for you?

But I don't solder very much, I'm afraid a Hakko FX-888 may be half-wasted in my hands :(. I like the look though.

A quality tool is never wasted if only used once. I used to hate soldering, never did it much because of that. Bought a Hakko and never looked back. Do more soldering now than I probably realize because it's not a chore anymore.

Works great. Heats up quickly + temperature control, makes soldering so much easier

Compatible with the wide selection of genuine Hakko tips.

I wonder why I did not get this soldering station sooner.

That's good.
I'm leaning toward a fake Hakko since I've heard from several places that they're decent, and it's a lot cheaper than a real Hakko.
