I am getting into modding lights, and love it alot. But, I am always curious to see what the light output is of my creations.

I am not wanting to spend alot on one of these, but want one I can depend on, and something trustworthy.

Heres a couple I am looking at. Let me know what you think.

This is the one alot of CPFers use. BUT, it only goes to 20,000 lux. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the info guys.

I use the LM631 and like it (as well as other "WaveTek" equipment"). No experience with the lesser priced one. Circuit Specs price was right, and they had a free DMM offer as well...

Hello Jtice,

If I were in the market for a light meter, I would go for the LM631. In this case, you get what you pay for.

I don't think the 0.01 lux resolution is all that important, but the other features realy make this meter stand out.

20000 lux is not a big limitation. If you get a light that puts out more than 20000 lux (at 1 meter), you can back up to 10 meters and multiply the lux reading by 100 to get the reading at 1 meter (and candellas).

I agree with SilverFox. Also, LM631 can handle up to 20,000 FC. You can convert FC to lux.
