WWW.neiparts.com is advertising the following 123 lithium batteries:

Duracell Ultra $1.79 each.
Panasonic 1.59 each
Sanyo 1.59 each

I have not tried them as I have a good stock of 123's

If you try them, let us know the results.

I just bought 24 223's for under $23 shipped, each one can be broken down into 2 each of 123's. It comes out to under $.50 each. Carguy21 is the person to buy them from.

How exactly do you break them down is the question...show us pictures please

Also...are they taller than 123s or wider? If you have a flashlight that takes 2 123s could you just drop a 223 in?

Yep. Carguy21 is the guy to buy from. I just bought 50 AA batteries from him for $12-$13 shipped. All were good condition. Very good service. I asked about him giving me a deal on 123 batteries and he said he'll find out tomorrow. Duracell CR123A. Cant wait to feed my 2L and Scorpion. Also the LX if I get $20 somehow this week.

Ok that was what I was getting at by my "Taller wider" question but I guess it couldv'e been a bit more specific

I got six 223's from him last week. I will see if they have a date on them.
BTW, same $0.50 price. They are Energizer EL223AB.

Ive talked to Carguy21 on AIM and hes a very good person to deal with. He guarantees everything he sells. I tested it all using the 22-091 tester from Radio Shack and all were perfect. Theres no expiration dates on any of them. Now that I checked, Theres no date on any battery I own.

I think the expiration date is usually printed on the package. Lithium batteries typically have a shelf life around 10 years. Sometimes the really cheap deals are for batteries that are near their expiration date, so watch out.

I'm not sure how quickly they deplete. If you find some that are 2-3 years from expiring, how much of their life is already depleted? Anyone know?

Depletion depends upon the temperatures at which they are stored. Lithium's are supposed to have 90% to 100% or oricinal capacity at 10 years if tghe temperature has been fairly constant.

Look at the battery company's technical data sheets. They show different capacity decay rates at different storage temperatures.

If you look very carefully at an angle on the battery you may find the date. It is printed very lightly on a few types of 123 batteries i own.

I just need a new set of D's in my Mag light and went fishing around in the glove box of the car and found a set of kodak's that I bought back in college in 1993 from a store that was going out of business, I believe that the expiration date as in 1994 and they still work great in the light, I don't know if this applies to Lithium batteries but I would imagine that they would be good for longer than 10 years.

dave

I'm sure they work great, but the point in expiration dates for batteries are when they lose a lot of their juice from sitting around. They will still work, but will not last as long as they would brand new.
