Lumapower LM33 woes

Man...what a ride these two flashlights have given me!

To give you a little history: I bought an LM33 with upgraded LED from batteryjunction over a year ago. It worked fine for a good 4 or 5 months.

Then it started to have some intermittent issues, and then failed completely. I bought a spare, and sat on it for awhile, trying to get the original fixed myself by reading the forums and talking to BJ support. After a few months of no luck, I finally caved and sent it back into BJ and they did something, and fixed it.

Excited about it, I went into a dark room and flipped on my spare light to compare to the replacement. To my surprise to spare was broken! Its emitting a very, very dim blue light from the LED, I can look into it and have no eye strain or glare. I figured it was just a dead battery, popped a new one in, and the same exact thing...dim light. Still has two clicks, but there's no discernible difference between then, just dead bluish light. This light was working fine a day ago - it is my go to carry light.

Do I have a lumapower curse?? My Olights, Surefires, Maglight LEDs, and replacement LEDs for some old Incandescent lights all work great, but these little carry lights do not inspire confidence. I swapped tailcaps with the working light, still has the issue. Do they need some kind of super cleaning at all contact points?

Oh and thumbs up to Batteryjunction service...they are great about fixing a light that doesn't work, hassle free and polite.

Thanks to them for that.
