OK, so I got home with my new Turbo Head, took out my M3 in the 123 form factor and switched it on. As you know it gives out a fair amount of light, nice beam but not really too impressive. After checking once again the "normal" light I opened the small box and took out an aluminum head containing a much larger reflector and a lens, nothing else. I read somewhere that it is the D-Mini's reflector in a casing adapted for the M3.
I simply unscrewed the std head (just the reflector's casing) and put on the Turbo one. It is not yet dark here so the only thing I could do was to illuminate the cellar (which is rather large):

UNBELIEVABLE !!!

Same body, same battery, same circuit, same LED but a totally different flashlight.

I'll come back to you after dark but believe me I expect an incredible change in the performance of my M3 :grin2:

I have spent some time yesterday night at my usual testing station (upstairs window overlooking my dark garden) and I confirm that M3 with Turbo Head overthrows P1D CE and U2. I assume that at this point sharing the same battery, the same LED, the same reflector and presumably a very similar if not the same driver M3 Transformer has been in this case transformed into D-Mini. I do not have one yet so I can't make comparisons.
In any case the beam is rather tight with a small but very powerful hotspot and a very limited spill. Because many esteemed and much more competent fellow CPFers have already posted many pics of the D-Mini's beam I feel that more of the same would be a waste of time.
As a conclusion I'm just saying that if you are ready to switch parts often you can from today enjoy another useful version of this light.

I was really so much surprised at the change of attitude of my M3 just by changing the optics that I'm starting a post on the subject in the appropriate place.

Wow, that's pretty cool actually. Guess the M3 really is a transformer. :)
And as always, would love some outdoor beamshots!
