I picked up my LS20 used over in B-S-T. How can I tell which version of the light I have? It would be nice to use rechargeable batteries if possible.

Regards,
HB

From the LunaSol FAQ:
Different Versions

The first wave of LS20 lights had a NG400 converter for the main gun, meaning Li-Ions are discouraged and the use of primary cells advised. The second large wave of LS20 lights use the GD converter that allows the use of Li-Ion cells.

HB,

Take off the head and set it lens down on a flat surface. Now look at the board: if it has a red conformal coating on it, it is the first run of LS20's with the NG converter, and you should not use 3.6 volts Li-ion rechargeables.

However, if the board is just a pure green, with a clear coating over it, you have the GD converter and can freely use any 123 battery to power it.

this might be a terrible NONO nut I have on occasion installed a non primary battery into my first run LS20 with no perceived ill effects.
Sometimes I find myself with NO primaries and have to do what I have to do.
My LS20 runs as bright as ever.
The only thing I noticed is that the light warmed up a bit more than "normal". and might be running a little brighter.
Maybe I am just lucky but it seems to me that the Golden Dragon emitter may have a little more latitude than we thought possible.

It's actually red nail polish, but "conformal coating" sounds better, doesn't it? LOL! Don used both terms in an earlier thread (in the same sentence). hehe.

LifePO4s huh? I did look at those a short time ago when I placed a battery order with AW. I'd have to buy yet another battery charger... Let's see how hard I actually use this light and go from there. I just put it into EDC duty for work today since my Stingray Holester arrived.
