Would anyone know if a lux III sandwich in a TK DSPECK firefly is a no-brainer affair? I don't enough about the lux III to know if I need to replace the current optics with new ones. I assume the sandwich itself should fine (with the possible need of some light sanding).

Thanks.

Waynes Lux III sandwich will work fine in a Firefly, the only mod that would be required is to put a solder blob on the sandwich so the battery anode can make contact with the sandwich.

I personally can not solder so I used a small 1/8 inch magnet on the batteries positive contact instead of a solder blob. I have one with Fraen Optic and one with the standard TK optic, I think I prefer the standard optic better, but I'm sure that is a matter of personal preference

mine only required a tiny bit of sanding on the sides of the sandwiches to get them to drop in and align correctly.
i used the original FF optics and the results were a much more focused brighter whiter light than the original Q3.
it's not a smooth beam though because the square X-pattern of the high dome is very obvious.

I've got three sammies for firefly, no make that four including the $20 Q2K pill I just got from Electrolumen.

I have not tested the pill in firefly yet. But in a mini mag the beam is almost same as LSHP.

Depending upon your usage I find you can have too bright of a light and a short runtime. My favorite is MM+ R2H, So depending upon you objctive..

listed in order of brightness driven by 1x 123:

1. MM+ R2H WO, has adj pot
2. MM WO TVAK
3. BB500 R2H

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a BB750 TWOK is about the max you can expect from a 1x 123 firefly to drive. FYI this will get HOT!

I hope this helps.

Thanks alot guys. Now I have to fight everyone else to get to the front of the line when those lux III sandwiches become available.
