Just want to get some advice on whether I should get an M3, M4 or M6. I need this light for long range purposes so it must have a turbohead. I know the M4 and M6 come with a turbohead already as standard, but how about the M3T? I like the M3 "Police" version with the TID so can I just get a turbohead and swap bezels whenever I need?

I like the multi function grip on the M3, I have an L6 and use a KT4 on that(M3T) it is a good combination. But I would say it depends on how you want to hold the light. Although I'd advice go for the best you can get, you'd only want to upgrade afterwards to more Lumens! so therefore the M6!

I strongly recommend you find a few friends in your area through the CPF Get togethers section and try out all three if possible.

500 lumen output for 20 minutes will be expensive though. Let's see that's 18 lithium 123 cells per hour times $1.25 each from Surefire.

I have the M4 and M6, but no M3 yet. Between the M4 and M6, I like them both. The M6 is shorter, but the M4 is skinnier. Some people don't like the "head-heavy" feel of the M4, but I don't mind. Of course, I find the shorter size of the M6 easier to fit in a bag, or to carry on a belt with my BlackHawk pouch (only tried that once!).
Paulr brought up a good point a few weeks ago when I asked a similar question (M4 vs M6)--hopefully I'm not quoting him out of context. Basically, for my purchase, I was planning to buy one or the other as a neat toy (that is, not out of any real need), so I, too, brought up the cost of batteries between the M4 and M6:
Paulr: "I'm sorry, but those questions just seem surreal. You're going to buy a $300 flashlight as a neat toy, and you care what the batteries cost?"
Paulr then provided some other info on throw that I had asked that isn't relevant here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Of course, for people who need to use the brightest, toughest light for their situation, then the battery costs become incidental(!).

Me, I'm planning to get an L6 eventually, and then use the KL6 on my M4 and use the Turbohead on my L6 body. That way, I can also run Pila 168s batteries in my M4 with the KL6. Lots of versatility (and interchangeable parts) between the M3, M4, and M6.

SureFire haven't released an LED light that can replace the M3 yet. I'd love them to release an LED light that can replace the M3T more though.
For certain, the M6 will remain the King for a long time - it's a worthy investment!

I have an M6 and it doesn't cost me that much in batteries, only been through one set [6]. As you guessed I do not use it very often, I just like the WOW factor I get from people I show it to. I've already WOW'ed most of the people I know, but even so I have absolutely no inclination to sell it ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I got bored one day (well, really, I didn't want to work on my schoolwork) so I left the M6 on until the batteries reached their thermal cut off)--woah, hot stuff! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Fortunately, the six batteries that you swap out can power LEDs for quite some time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
My MagCharger/WA combo outthrows my M6 a little, but it just isn't as fun. I'm going to get Jim's (JS) mods for the TigerLight when they come out, but yet, deep down, I don't know if they'll beat the M6's "wow" factor.
The M4 is just as neat too, IMO. Most people that are buying the M6 seem to skip over the M4, it seems (for civilian applications on CPF, that is). Maybe because the price difference isn't too much, and maybe because the M6 just dumps out 500 lumens of raw power.
I've seen enough posts from CPF members who have regretted selling their M6s that I, too, plan to hold on to mine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif
