I'm considering various options in flashlights and I'm thinking this maybe one way.

I have a Surefire 6P and am considering Malkoff Devices P60 style MC-E pushing out 500 lumens and have the flashlight bored out to accept one 18650 battery along with a Z49 Click-on Tailcap Switch.

Has anyone tried this combination? If so, how is it working for you.
I want the power, I just don't want the price of Surefire 123A batteries to :poof: my wallet.

I think 2x RCR123 will be better. Less runtime, but I don't think 1x18650 has enough power.

A better config, is a 9P or C3 bored out using 2x18500's.

That is what I plan on getting one day :D

Quoted from Malkoff's site:

"This is the Malkoff Devices P60 style MC-E flood beam dropin with solid brass heatsink construction. This design utilizes a Cree 20 degree optic. The optic produces an outstanding room lighting beam. Throw is typically limited to approximately 140+/- feet. It will easily blind opponents at close range. It was designed specifically for use in SureFire 6P, 6Z, C2, and M2. It may or may not fit other models. The input voltage is 5 - 13 volts. Below 5 volts it will drop out of regulation. Below 4.5v it will shut off. The output is 500+ lumens. The current draw is only 1300ma at 6 volts. The runtime is 45 minutes on 2 CR123 primary batteries. The LED is a Cree MC-E Quad Die LED."

It will not run on one 18650 as I thought. It needs a minimum of 4.5v, or a minimum of 5v to be regulated.

The MC-E dosn't run off of 3.8V. With a fresh charge you will probably to get it to turn on low output but its not going to run full power at all. This has been answered before. You need over 5V to really get it going. Two 17500s or better to run this type of module.

I have a Malkoff M60 MC-E. I took some measurement and this is what I got.

1. In a FM 2C & 2 AW IMR26500 Z44 bezel, I got 1.08A at the tail.

2. In a bored 18650 6P & 2 CR123A(Primary) Z44 bezel, I got 1.1A at the tail.

There seems to be not much difference in terms of current draw regardless of battery voltage.

Is this normal?

Thanks.
