Hello all.
Newbie here, I have been lurking and reading posts for a while and finally registered, what a great site, for the longest time I thought I was a little odd as well did others for my facination with flashlights and the quest to modify them. My first and easiest years ago was just putting a lower rated bulb in a 6 volt lantern battery spotlight, when I saw the brightness and throw I bought another and mounted them side by side centering the beams out at a hundred yards or so. My buddies gave me a hard time until darkness invaded on a moonless night out camping and that thing was lighting up critters on a canyonside a couple of hundred yards away, they quickly nicknamed it The Sun and only bragged about it from then on. Anyway, I modified my 2C mag with the 3X123 with a 6 cell bulb but I'd like to know if 5 or 6 X123 with the right bulb is possible in my 3D mag? I am not concerned with heating up the reflector too much as I use lights like these (Surefire and 2C modmag) only in short bursts (5-8 seconds)to light up something at a distance or to blind someone. It's amazing how quickly a car will slow down while out walking the dog when the 2C modmag flashes them, I carry it on my side while the wife lights the trail with a little EverReady Double Barrel. Thanks to all out there.

Mark:

Try a 5 cell krypton bulb, not the 6 cell bulb in your 2C mag. It'll be brighter. You can also put 4 C cells in your 3D M@g and overdrive a 3 cell krypton bulb to good effect.
