I bought a new Mag Charger recently and have a question about the switch. Occasionally, when turning the light off/on it seems like there is a slight "flicker". It's almost as if right before/during the "clicking sound" there is a break in the contact. Are the MC switches different from a standard D cell switch? Are they removable for cleaning, etc? Out of all the Mags I've had, this is a first. Thanks for your help. :)

Mechanically they work the same as the regular switch, I think the internal parts are interchangeable, never really tried that, I do not know why it is breacking contact before it should.
The forward tube section that retains the head screws off the middle or charging band section. The pedestal and swtich housing are held in a metal cage that is the frame that makes the switch and socket unit. It pulls out from the back of the forward tube. Then the switch module pops out the back of that. The switch module makes contact with the middle band section and the bottom of the socket. An easy to get to and to work on component.

The Magcharger switch is similar to the pre-1990 D-cell switches. It uses a rotating metal disc. I'd guess your disc has some spots of corrosion or dirt. I'm not sure of interchangability.

If you take it apart, don't lose the diode, insulator, and spring behind the + charging ring. Pay close attention to the order the various parts come off in.

Thank you both very kindly. I will try to clean the switch with a little deoxit and if all else fails, I'll exchange the light for another.
Best wishes.

Call or email Mag and ask for the nearest warranty center. They'll replace the switch for free. All you pay is postage to the center. Had my Dad's switch replaced earlier this year. Turn around was less than five days.

Don't know what part of GA you're in but IIRC there's a warranty center in Atlanta.

What does IIRC mean, BTW?

If I Recall Correctly

Hope the info helps. Also call the center first and see if they'd be willing to send you a shipping label to cover getting it to them. The mom and pop shop that did mine said they couldn't but it never hurts to ask.
