Mag D cell Mods

I have a 5 d-cell maglite, what can I do to make it a better light? What bulbs can I get, and which is the best?

Apples to Oranges Onyz, but...

My 5D light is a Brinkmann 5-3-2 light. It has 6 C cells in it and that particular light has a nice bright pretty smooth beam. It doesnt tell us exactly how a Mag would act, but...

My 4D Mag has 5 C cells driving a KPR113. It is good but considerably more ringy and artifacty.

My 3D Mag has a new Xenon Star bulb and three new Energizers. It has a beam with a very smooth center and not many artifacts.

If you did 6 Cs and used some sort of film on the lense I think you would have the best of both worlds.

Yeah, a 5w LS mod.

5 cells is just about right...

I think ElectroLumens was experimenting with this in another thread, I believe...
