i decided to put in a taskled d2dim driver for my p7 since i've been finding the max output of a p7 a bit impractical.
hence this thread

similar to mac's setup

anyway,
the d2dim uses a pwm on the direct drive to change the output. it's pretty nice UI because it's not much different than a regular mag switch. press, release for on/off. when on, you can hold the switch for the output to ramp down and release/hold for it to ramp up. it's pretty simple.

so i'm using a kaidomain 3aa->1d converter and the d2dim driver. i'm pretty sure there is some resistance from the crappy battery carrier but i don't mind much so i can use nimh aa's.

output is very flexible it goes really low. below l0d low. and max is somewhere near max p7.

you do have to modify the stock switch to a momentary.
