i recently purchased a mag64 (8xAA cells = 9.6v) to a 1164 bulb.

is there any risk of killing the bulb from cold?

on cold starts should i turn on and off quickly a few times to give the filament hope?

or just keep it in my pocket for 5 minutes?

or nothing to worry about?

i dont know if there is any kind of soft start built in?

mag64?

Probably nothing to worry about. I have found the 1164 a pretty robust bulb.

Try it and see, and get a few spare bulbs.

I run this combo also.

Never had a bulb flash with 8AA's, even hot off the charger.

You should be fine.
