I have a magcharger that is about 10 years old. This light has never let me down but I think its time to get a little more light out of it. I need a good long distance tight beam. Something to shine coyotes at 300 yards. I know nothing about leds but saw a head that will fit my light. Or any mods I might be able to do is very much appreciated.

Thanks I am a true novice to all this. Is there anybody I can just send my light to for mods.

Mag charger upgrade question

Hi guys, I am completely new to this forum and happy new year from the not so sunny uk. I have a new mag charger and I am looking to upgrade the bulb to something brighter than the standard bulb. I was looking at the Philips 5761 or is there something better I should look at and I am wanting the bulb to drop in without any major mods also I am wanting something with a decent throw, cheers guys for any advice

Re: Mag charger upgrade question

WA1160 or WA1111 will work perfectly but since they are much more powerfull than stock bulb, produced temperatue will also be higher and may melt plastic part of bulb holder. Therefore, ceramic socket will be necessary.

MC 2.5" Throw Master will maximize throw.

MC Aluminum Reflector will smooth out beam shape.

MC Ceramic Socket will prevent heat damage.

Re: Mag charger upgrade question

Hi thanks for the reply, I love the throwmaster head but have a few questions doesnt the throwmaster head come with a reflector or would I be better getting the one you suggested as well, what bulb would be better the wa1160 or the wa1111 and lastly do you ship to the uk as it is near impossible to get good quality maglite from a supplier over here, Just to wait till I get paid and see if I can get the bulbs over here. thanks again.

Re: Mag charger upgrade question

MC 2.5" Throw Master has built in reflector and comes with Borofloat (high temp Pyrex) glass lens, cam and orings.

MC Aluminum Reflector just replaces original reflector.

WA1160 overdrives with standard battery pack and produces good output but it's hard to find.
WA1111 runs in spec with standard battery pack but can be pushed to 7.2V with excellent output.
I ship to most Eurpoean countries including UK.

Re: Mag charger upgrade question

Thanks for the info. I don't suppose you can supply the wa1111 bulbs failing that could you point me in the way of a supplier that does them and ships to the uk.

:nana:
just buy a malkoff drop in and let 'er rip (it's what i finally did)

Malkoff is a possibility if you want to go the LED route. For whatever reason, their drop-in for the Magcharger puts out 100 fewer lumen than their XM-L drop-in for plain old Krypton Mags. But 600 lumens is certainly still respectable. But given the fact this IS an XM-L, I'm not sure how good throw will be. I should also note that the Magcharger drop-in is quite inexpensive compared to their Krypton Mag drop-in. So that's certainly a plus.

Thanks for the parts lists, fivemega. I've been hunting for this kind of stuff lately. I appreciate it!

Thanks again.
